Who's Hot? January Edition

Eagles Landing

The Eagles have had a great month, keeping the zero in their loss column, now sitting at 20-0. They've had some solid wins against Langston Hughes, Dutchtown, Greenforest, and Warner Robins in January. Mercer commit David Thomas has been fantastic and the Eagles have received big contributions from Chris Morris, Kenny Brayboy, Clark Mastin, and Khylan McKennie.

Dylan Faulkner, Calhoun

Faulkner has been putting up huge numbers and has been a walking double-double for Calhoun this season. He's averaging 24 points and 15 rebounds on this season, and has had 23 or more points and 15 or more rebounds in every game in January, with Calhoun having a 4-2 record in those games. He also had a huge 31-point and 31-rebound game against Cass earlier in the month.

Derin Saran, Asheville School (NC)

Saran has added a couple of offers in the last week from UC-Riverside and Wyoming, and he has helped lead Asheville School to a 4-1 record in January. He's had 3 performances of 20 or more points and also has distributed the ball at a high level. Expect his recruitment to really heat up as he is one of the better available guards in the southeast.

Seth Grandberry, Lausanne Collegiate (TN)

Lausanne Collegiate is one of the hottest teams in Tennessee at the moment, with Grandberry leading the show in the backcourt. They've won 8 straight dating back to the end of the 2022 calendar year and are currently 19-2 on the season. Grandberry is averaging 17 points, 4 assists, and 4 boards on the season. He's very physical off the dribble and can get to his spots and convert. He's also a high level defender with his physicality as well.

Caleb White, Pinson Valley (AL)

Pinson Valley is one of the best teams in Alabama and are currently unbeaten on the year at 21-0. White has been a huge part of that, averaging 20 points and over 3 assists per game this season. He's very effective off the dribble and is a great shot maker from the perimeter. He's incredibly tough to stay in front of and always seems to get to his spots and convert.

North Cobb Christian

The Eagles are one of the surprise teams on the year and one of the hottest in the state right now, winners of 14 straight. Senior forward Albert Wilson has had a tremendous season, averaging over 21 points per game and going for 24 or more in three games since the start of the 2023 calendar year. He's been joined by Gabe Bolden, CJ Wallace, and Christian Hernandez as significant contributors and as a team they shoot the ball as well as anyone.

Pebblebrook

The Falcons have really started to hit their stride, which is bad news for other teams in 7A. They've won five straight dating back to the end of 2022, including huge wins over Cannon School (NC), Carrollton, and Norcross. Dayton commit Jaiun Simon is always a threat on both ends of the floor, Jase McCullough is a great shooter from three, and the Falcons play high intensity defense at all times.

Jalexs Ewing & Khalon Hudson, Westside Augusta

Westside are winners of 7 straight and Ewing and Hudson have been one of the state's better duos, averaging close to 35 points combined on the season. Both guys are tough as nails and can get after it on both ends. Ewing is one of the best athletes in the state and recently earned his first Division I offer from Hampton. Hudson is one of the best unsigned players in the state and can score in a variety of ways and hits the boards hard.
