Late last week, Grayson 2022 forward Chauncey Wiggins committed to Clemson. What should Tigers fans expect from the versatile forward and how will he fit with Clemson and head coach Brad Brownell?
First and foremost, he has all of the physical tools that you want to see from a high major forward. He has great size, standing at a long and lanky 6-foot-9. However, with that size he has great mobility and can move more like a wing player, giving him great versatility.
Offensively, he fits the mold of a stretch four, with the ability to step out and knock down shots from the perimeter and in the midrange. He's very good in pick-and-pop situations and has also developed the ability to put the ball on the floor to find his shot. His high skill level and ability to stretch the floor in addition to his versatility make him a fit for the modern style of basketball.
He versatility and length also give him some upside on the defensive side of the ball. He uses his length well and has the ability to change and alter shots. He is also becoming a much better rebounder and has the ability to be a contributor on the glass.
Overall, he's a player whose confidence has grown tremendously over the course of the past couple of years, and his bright spots over the course of June and July were among some of the best performances of the live period against great competition. He will be a go-to player for Grayson this season, so we only expect that confidence to continue to grow.
