Tucker vs. Tri-Cities - Wednesday 7:00pm
In a rematch of last year’s state championship game, Tucker should have plenty of motivation for revenge after losing on a buzzer beater by then-Tri-Cities and now Morehouse guard Demarcus Johnson. Tri-Cities has leaned on its experience as well as their dynamic duo Peyton Daniels and Demetrius Rives to get to this point, a run which included a nail-biting win in the first round against Johns Creek. Tucker has a dynamic duo of its own in unsigned seniors Terrence Edwards and Jermontae Hill, who have both been on a scoring tear coming down the stretch. Expect a fiery contest between these two sides who certainly have memories of a year ago.
Lanier vs. Langston Hughes - Tuesday 7:30pm
Langston Hughes have been road warriors thus far in the postseason with two close road wins against Cambridge and Valdosta. Their seniors have been a big reason why they have had success and they have been reliable late in games with Kennesaw State signee Kasen Jennings hitting a huge three against Valdosta to put the Panthers up and Campbell signee Patrick Carter sealing the game with free throws. Lanier have not been strangers to close games either, winning an overtime contest against Stephenson on the back of a Tulane signee Sion James (Pictured) game-winner. Andrew McConnell has also been a big factor for Lanier, so look for him to play a big role in this one as well.
South Cobb vs. Evans - Tuesday 6:30pm
There may not be a hotter team in the AAAAAA classification than South Cobb. The Eagles are winners of their last nine games, many of which have come by double figures, including two 20+-point wins in the first two rounds of the state tournament. That success can largely be attributed to the play of Illinois State signee Emon Washington, who has been one of Georgia’s top scorers all year, and sophomore guard Zocko Littleton. The two combined for 37 points in a second-round blowout win over Brunswick. Evans has also won both state tournament games by double figures, with two huge performances from senior Christian Chambers, one of Georgia’s better unsigned seniors. Chambers also went over 1,500 career points in the second-round win over Douglas County and is averaging 28 points per game in the state tournament.
Chattahoochee vs. Sequoyah – Tuesday 7:00pm
There were not too many better performances in the second-round than Hooch’s AJ White, who came up huge down the stretch when his team needed him against Heritage Conyers. White ended the game with 30 points and his team needed every bit of that performance. They have also gotten significant production from Rice signee Cam Sheffield and senior forward David McDaniel. On the other side, Sequoyah has made history in the postseason, earning the school’s first trip to the Elite Eight. The Chiefs have done so without big production from star guard and Mercer signee Jacksen Greco. However, his counterparts have stepped up big and individual performances from Donovan Shipp and Myles McGee have propelled them to this point.
