Monroe Area vs. Pace Academy - Wednesday 7:00pm
One of these teams, most expected to be here. The other, not so much. Monroe Area has traveled all over the state, from northwest Georgia against North Murray down to Macon against Westside, and they came out with the upset in both games. Derrick Brown and Kendric Lyles have given the Hurricanes big performances in those road wins to get them to this point. Pace Academy has rolled thus far, and their recipe for success is much the same as it has been this year. Four-star wing Matthew Cleveland and forward Cole Middleton (Pictured) have performed well, and Madison Durr has provided a tough presence in the backcourt. Head coach Sharman White is always a tough out and will be eyeing his first state title at Pace.
Long County vs. Johnson Savannah - Wednesday 6:30pm
A match-up of two teams down in Coastal Georgia. The Blue Tide of Long County have quietly put together a very good season, only losing four games and winning Region 2. They have been led by big man Trajan Weatherspoon and guards Tostadas Pouncey and Cameryn Johnson. Johnson has shown signs of being one of the more athletic sophomores you will find in Georgia. Johnson is coming off of a home win against Cedar Grove and has a group of guards that can flat out score. Senior Derek Edwards and Junior Emondre Bowles, who was named co-Region POY, have been doing the heavy lifting for most of the year, but freshman guard Tony Baker has also provided a good lift with his shooting.
Jefferson vs. Monroe - Wednesday 7:30pm
Monroe will make the trip north of Atlanta to take on Jefferson in a match-up of two region winners. The Golden Tornadoes will bring a team with plenty of athleticism and scoring ability with Marius Ellis, Matthew Green, and Dominik Henderson. Jefferson will counter with Naval Academy bound big man Jacob Radaker, who is a force to be reckoned with on the interior. Joining him on the Dragons are Owen and Daniel Parker, who provide a lot of the production from the wings. This one will be a clash of styles and should make for a very interesting match-up.
Central Macon vs. Windsor Forest - Tuesday 7:00pm
Windsor Forest comes into this one off two blowout wins in the first two rounds at home. This one will also take place down on the coast as they welcome in Central Macon, who beat last year’s state runner up Hart County. Central Macon has standouts on the perimeter and on the interior with athletic senior guard Tony Card as well as junior forward Quay Primas. Card had an incredible showing in the second round win with a 20-20 game. Windsor Forest comes in having only lost four games all year on the backs of Co-Region POY Shamar Norman and standout sophomore D’Ante Bass, who, on average, combine for thirty points a game. This should be a fun and closely contested game between two tough teams.
