Peach State Weekend Preview - January 20-21

January 20

Grayson vs. South Gwinnett

The first of two very good games in Region 4-7A on Friday night, a region which will feature good matchups for the rest of the season. Justin Redmond, Jet Horne and Ansar Osman lead the Comets attack against Grayson, who have one of the state's best bucket getters in Gicarri Harris as well as Division I prospects all over the floor.

Newton vs. Parkview

The other notable matchup on Friday night in Region 4-7A features Newton & Parkview. UConn commit Stephon Castle has been terrific all year for the Rams and is making his case for Mr. Basketball. Parkview is led by sophomore forward Jacob Wilkins, who is having an outstanding season as well. The dichotomy of youth vs. experience is interesting here.

Osborne vs. Cherokee

We've mentioned in our previews that Region 5-7A is one of Georgia's best from top to bottom. Cherokee currently sits on top of the region at 3-0 behind a great group of seniors including Tayden Owens, Cam Pope, Mason Bennett, and Dastin Hart. However, they will have to deal with a tough Osborne squad led by sophomore Akai Fleming and senior Justin McCarter.

Pace Academy vs. mcdonough

If you like guards, this will be your game on Friday night, and don't be surprised if you see these teams play 3+ times this season. McDonough's guards are tough as nails led by seniors Da'Avion Thomas, Amon McDowell, and Avante Nichols as well as junior Keenan Gray. Pace's backcourt has plenty of firepower as well between junior KJ Greene and sophomore Eric Chatman.

January 21

Pebblebrook vs. norcross

The first of three terrific boys matchups at the Nike Elite Showcase at Pace Academy on Saturday is between these two 7A powers. Norcross has one of the state's best backcourts led by Georgia commit Mari Jordan and Mier Panoam. They will have their hands full with a tough Pebblebrook squad who always bring the intensity to both ends. The player matchup to watch will be Norcross' Samarion Bond and Pebblebrook's Jaiun Simon, a Dayton commit.

Pace academy vs. milton

The second of three boys matchups at the Nike Elite Showcase, Pace will turn around a tough region game Friday night for a tough game on Saturday. Milton is led by their sophomore backcourt Josh Dixon & Avery White as well as senior Seth Fitzgerald. Pace Academy also has one of the state's best sophomore guards Eric Chatman as well as junior KJ Greene.

mceachern vs. oak ridge (fl)

The headline matchup at the Nike Elite Showcase at Pace Academy features McEachern and Oak Ridge out of Orlando. Oak Ridge features a great group of junior guards/wings with Tyler Johnson, Jordan Tillery, and Cameron Simpson (UCF commit). They will go up against McEachern who features 2024 five-star forward Ace Bailey fresh off of his commitment to Rutgers.
