Peach State Preview: January 24th

Grayson vs. Newton

These two region foes have created a solid rivalry over the past few years with loads of talent on each side. Grayson is unbeaten in region play led by a well-balanced group where any player can beat you on any given day. Newton is led by UConn commit Stephon Castle as well as a terrific surrounding backcourt. Castle should be matched up against Grayson guard Gicarri Harris, which should be very fun.

Archer vs. South Gwinnett

Another tough game in Region 4-7A, which will provide high quality matchups throughout region play. Both teams have loads of toughness and experience and bring a high-enery, hard-nosed style to the floor which will make this one a good watch. Archer 2024 guard Kahmare Holmes has been one of, if not the biggest stock riser in the Peach this season.

Cherokee vs. Wheeler

The two remaining unbeaten teams in Region 5-7A square off tonight. Both teams are loaded with experience and quality seniors with Cherokee's Cameron Pope, Tayden Owens, Mason Bennett, and Dastin Hart and Wheeler's Isaiah Collier, Arrinten Page, and Jelani Hamilton. Expect a crazy atmosphere for this one in Cherokee County.

McDonough vs. Lovett

This backcourt matchup should be a lot of fun. McDonough sits atop Region 5-4A at 7-0 and has one of the toughest and deepest backcourts in the state. Their toughness will be tested against Michigan commit Christian Anderson, who is the state's leading scorer and one of the most skilled players you will find anywhere in the Peach.

Eagles Landing vs. Jones County

Eagles Landing takes on Jones County in another good one south of the city. The Eagles are undefeated on the year and play a fast, tough style led by their backcourt of Mercer commit David Thomas, Khylan McKennie, Chris Morris & Clark Mastin. Jones County also has a tremendous backcourt led by Jaylen Sanford, one of the state's better unsigned players.

Thomson vs. Westside Augusta

There is a ton of quality right now out in Augusta, which should lead to a lot of good matchups. We featured Westside duo Jalexs Ewing & Khalon Hudson on our "Who's Hot?" series yesterday, and the Patriots are winners of seven straight. Thomson is enjoying a solid season at 11-3 led by junior guards Lavonta Ivery & Jahkiaus Jones. Thomson handed Westside a loss earlier in the year, but there should be a nice crowd at Westside for this one.
