Team Preview:
This year’s Bulldogs team features a group of experienced upperclassmen that will have great size along with being one of the state’s best perimeter scoring teams.
Senior wing/forward RJ Godfrey will be the leader of this year’s squad. Godfrey is as versatile as they come and will likely serve in a number of different roles this season. At 6-foot-7, he can do a little bit of everything, and, after missing a portion of the travel season, will be hungry to make his impact.
Senior 6-foot-6 guard/wing Thomas Allard is one of the state’s best shooters, but he should also see a good amount of time as a playmaker with the ball in his hands. He showed the ability to be a primary ball handler over the summer, and we could see more of that from him.
Seniors Deterrius Clayton & Dylan Gary will add additional size and scoring ability from the forward spots. Clayton is a big-bodied 6-foot-7 four-man who can anchor down the paint, rebound at a high level, and provide a versatile presence that can play inside-out on the offensive end. At 6-foot-4, Gary is a very good shooter from the perimeter and has shown that when he gets hot, is capable of putting big numbers in the scoresheet.
One of the question marks for the Bulldogs this season is in the backcourt at the point guard spot. While we are likely to see a lot of RJ Godfrey and Thomas Allard supplementing as the lead playmaker, Amaru Grosvenor should spend a lot of time filling that spot as well. The Alpharetta transfer has shown the ability to be a solid floor general and set the table for his team.
