Team Preview:
Berkmar returns a ton of production from a team a year ago that reached the state championship game and have added additional pieces that will help them get back to Macon in 2022.
6-foot-10 senior big man and Ole Miss commit Malique Ewin is the most skilled frontcourt player in the state and will be difficult for any team to deal with on the interior. His size, mobility, and skill set make him a double-double threat night in and night out.
He is complemented by a solid senior backcourt of point guard Jameel Rideout and combo guard Jermahri Hill. Rideout is the floor general for the Patriots and will be the main table setter and control the tempo. He is also one of the best backcourt defenders in Georgia’s 2022 class. Hill began his blow up at the end of the high school season last year, including a great state title game performance. He is one of Georgia’s best athletes and loves to get downhill and attack the rim. They will make up one of the better backcourts in metro Atlanta.
Two transfers should help bolster play on the wings and provide a lot of production as well. 6-foot-5 senior Brycen Blaine comes in from Virginia and will give a big scoring boost to the Patriots. He has shown to be very capable of scoring the ball efficiently from every level of the floor. 6-foot-7 senior Antoine Hurns is the other new face from Indiana. He has great size and length and gives another big, athletic presence for Berkmar.
