GHSA State Playoffs 6A Superlatives

Best First Round Matchup

Lee County vs. Riverwood

Lee County made a run to the state championship game last season, and they will get a visit from Riverwood, who features Vandy commit Karris Bilal and 2025 guard JR Leonard, two of the state's better scoring guards. Lee County is led by 2025 wing/forward Josiah Parker, who is a huge matchup problem with the ability to play on the perimeter as a playmaker as well as on the interior and is also one of the state's better rebounders. Braden Moore is another guy to keep an eye on for Lee County as a good playmaker in the backcourt.

Best Player Matchup

The matchup between Pope and Sequoyah features a couple very good duos. Pope's Zach Bleshoy and Deven Royal provide a ton of production for the Greyhounds in the backcourt and have both been great all season. They will match up against Sequoyah's Cade Lomas and Brendan Tousignaut, who provide the same for the Chiefs. This one should be a very good one over in East Cobb.

Not To Look Forward But...

Last season, Alexander beat Etowah to advance to the state championship game, where they eventually lifted the trophy in Macon. This year there is a potential rematch in the second round, which would be a very good matchup. Alexander has been one of the best teams in the state all season, but Etowah has had some big wins this season and can get hot from three in a hurry.

Biggest Storyline

The one seeds. They're all capable of winning it all and there are some very good teams that won regions in this classification. Alexander will be looking for a repeat of a season ago, but Shiloh, Woodward Academy, Lee County, and St. Pius X among others will have their eye on stealing the show.

Sleeper That Could Make Noise

Langston Hughes has shown that they can play with some of the state's best teams and could be a very dangerous three seed. Brentis Schaeffer is one of the state's best unsigned guards and they have a sleeper in their frontcourt in Jaron Lemelle. They play with a lot of energy and could play the role of spoiler on the road.

Hi My Name Is...

St. Pius X 2026 guard Tobias Brinkley has one of the highest ceilings in Georgia's 2026 class. He's an extremely versatile lefty at a long 6-foot-6 with the ability to play both backcourt spots. He's a good playmaker off the dribble and score score the ball from every level. He can also make a big impact on the defensive side. He's a guy that can add to his story this postseason.
