GHSA Notable Games - January 17th

Walton vs. Wheeler

This East Cobb rivalry is always a good one, so expect a solid crowd at Wheeler tonight. Both teams are enjoying very good seasons, and this region will be a highly contested one for seeding in the region tournament and spots in the state tournament. Isaiah Collier and Luke Flynn should be a good matchup in the backcourt, but this can come down to how Walton will handle Wheeler's size in the frontcourt.

North Cobb Christian vs. Walker School

North Cobb Christian has been a pleasant surprise this season and is one of the best shooting teams that we have seen this season, and they will get their second look at Walker School, who took them to two overtimes earlier in the season. NCCS senior forward Albert Wilson goes up against Walker 6-foot-9 freshman Moustapha Diop, who is averaging a double double on the season.

Jonesboro vs. Woodward Academy

These two teams sit atop Region 3-6A, so expect a good one here. JaQuez Akins, Devon Rainey, and Montez Redding are all having a great season for Jonesboro, who always brings a hard-nosed style of play. Woodward is led by a good young core of players including sophomores Deke Cooper & Zach Foster as well as junior Brandon Peters.

Alexander vs. South Paulding

Another solid region matchup in Region 5-6A. South Paulding sits at 14-4 on the season and will look to improve their spot in the region standings against Alexander who is undefeated in region play led by Braedan Lue, Noah Melson, and JayQuan Nelson.

Collins Hill vs. Buford

One of the matchups to watch in Gwinnett County tonight as Buford travels to Collins Hill. The Wolves have been a great surprise this season at 13-4 with some great wins on their resume. David Burnett, Brennan Wansley, London Williams, and Cam Kelly have been vital for their success. Collins Hill is led by senior guard Keishawn Hampton, an Emory & Henry commit, as well as a good group of underclassmen.
