A busy Sunday of hoops news in Georgia continued on Sunday evening with Carrollton forward Melvin Edwards ending his recruitment to commit to Charleston Southern.
Edwards, who had originally signed with UNC-Wilmington back in November and backed out after the firing of head coach C.B. McGrath, cited two key factors in his decision to choose the Buccaneers.
“I bonded with the head coach right away,” Edwards said. “The players and the coaches are my type of people.”
Since opening up his recruitment, Edwards mentioned Chattanooga, Mississippi State, Tennessee State, Virginia Tech, Middle Tennessee, Wofford, Mercer, UNC-Asheville, Lipscomb, James Madison and UAB as schools that reached out.
Edwards starred for Team Forrest during last travel season and had a strong showing at the Battle For Georgia last July at LakePoint.
