The fifth game of the Grayson New Years Classic featured Parkview & Mount Vernon. With normal starters coming off the bench, Parkview got off to a slow start, and trailed at the half.
However, they found their shooting stroke in the second half behind Jacob Wilkins, Michael Carpenter, & Chasz Holmes. Their shooting opened the floor for Mike Matthews to take over getting to the rim in the fourth quarter to seal the win 68-61.
Wilkins continues to make his statement as one of the contenders for the top player in Georgia in 2025.
Mount Vernon forward Xavier Shegog was great in the loss, showcasing his rebounding and athleticism finishing at the rim.
