Asa Montgomery Commits to Duke University

Montgomery chooses duke

In front of a crowd that included his classmates and Hillgrove faculty and staff, star forward Asa Montgomery verbally committed to Duke University with his family by his side. Montgomery had experienced a huge uptick in his recruitment and national attention which came as a result of his domination of the Nike EYCL and being selected to the T-USA U17 team, resulting in an Olympic gold medal. The 6'7" swing man chose the Blue Devils over LSU, rival UNC, UConn, Georgia Tech, and a bevy of other Power 5 schools that tossed their hats in the ring.

Hillgrove high school boys' basketball will kick off the 2026-27 season with a home opener versus Langston Hughes on November 6th.
