With the travel season on hold and no opportunity for prospects entering their final year of high school to play in front of college coaches to earn scholarships, LakePoint Hoops wants to put the spotlight on the Class of 2021. Each day over the next few weeks we will be profiling a top prospect in Georgia in hopes of helping prospects generate buzz with college coaches.
Up next in the LakePoint Hoops Class of 2021 Spotlight Series…
Jabari Smith
Position: Forward
Height: 6’10”
High School: Sandy Creek
Travel Team: Atlanta Celtics
Scholarship Offers: Tennessee, Arizona State, Clemson, Florida, TCU, Alabama, Georgetown, Western Kentucky, Florida State, LSU, Ole Miss, Georgia, UALR, Georgia Tech, UAB
Scouting Report: With his rare combination of size and skill level, Smith is a consensus top-ten five-star prospect. He is very quick and mobile for his size and has a diverse skill set, which gives him the ability to play inside and on the perimeter. He excels on the block and in the mid-post where he can employ a number of back-to-the-basket and face-up moves including a nearly unstoppable fade-away jumper. He’s a good shooter from the perimeter and has the ability to put the ball on the floor as well. His size and length make him an impact player defensively and he is a very good rim protector. He has been a standout in a number of different settings including high school, on the travel circuit, and with Team USA. He will continue to be a priority prospect for a number of the country’s best programs when play picks back up in the coming weeks.
