Peach State Weekend Preview: January 27-28

January 27

Paulding County vs. Langston Hughes

This is a game that college coaches might want to keep an eye on, with both teams having notable unsigned seniors that will be matched up against each other. Langston Hughes senior Randy Latham has been consistently good all season & he will go up against Paulding County senior Frantzyr Chardavoine, who is one of the leading scorers in the state.

Archer vs. Parkview

Seeding in the Region 4-7A region tournament is going to be very important with the depth of the region, so both squads will want to win this one. Two big stock risers will be on display with Archer 2024 guard Kahmare Holmes and Parkview 2025 forward Jacob Wilkins. Archer won a close game at home in the first matchup between these two.

Buford vs. Mill Creek

Two of the better teams in Region 8-7A square off in this Gwinnett County matchup. Buford is 5-1 on the season behind some great play from their upperclassmen including David Burnett, London Williams, and Brennan Wansley. Mill Creek is a talented squad including Trajen Greco and Jonathan Taylor as well as some size on the interior.

Westside Augusta vs. Putnam County

Coming off of an overtime win against Thomson, Westside will face Putnam County in a great matchup in Region 4-2A. Putnam County duo Eren Banks (Georgia Southern commit) and Landon Bonner combine to average 40 points per game and they will go up against a loaded & tough Westside team led by Khalon Hudson.

January 28

Grayson vs. Osborne

Gwinnett vs. Cobb in this matchup between two talented teams at Milton 5-Star Longhorn Classic. Grayson has a great, well-balanced group, and Osborne's talent level will be able to match up well. This one could come down to how well Grayson's backcourt can contain Osborne's Akai Fleming. There is also a great matchup between two athletic players in Chad Moodie and Justin McCarter, who is among the state's leading scorers.

Milton vs. North Meck (NC)

North Meck is one of the best teams in North Carolina at 17-1 on the season. They are led by one of the best players in the state in junior wing Isaiah Evans, who holds a number of Power 6 offers and can score the ball as well as anyone. Milton's sophomore duo Josh Dixon and Avery White will need to bring the offense again, but senior Seth Fitzgerald will be key on both ends of the floor.

McEachern vs. Calvary Christian (FL)

There are high level college prospects all over the floor in this matchup. McEachern is led by their senior guard Jamichael Davis (Rutgers commit) & Moses Hipps as well as five-star junior Ace Bailey (Rutgers commit) and sophomore JD Palm. Calvary has a very talented team that has run through a gauntlet of a schedule this season. Memphis commit Carl Cherenfant is their go-to guy. He's joined by scoring guard Jaylen Curry and talented sophomore Shon Abaev.
